Installing Office Add-Ins

Microsoft Office add-ins for Microsoft Word and Excel along with Visual Studio Runtime can be installed on your local machine in a simple manner following the installation wizards. The installation files are available in a setup wizard by clicking on the links Install VSTO Runtime, Install Word Add-Ins, and Install Excel Add-Ins.

 

clip0002TIP Before installing add-ins for Microsoft Word or Excel, you need to install the Visual Studio Runtime. Installing the VSTO executable file is a simple wizard-like procedure.

 

clip0003NOTE Some features of MS Office add-ins 2007 require the 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 (SP2) and MS Hotfix KB976477. For installation instructions of these components, see the official Microsoft documentation.

 

>> To install Microsoft Word add-ins

 

1.Open SDMS Administration at path Utilities > SDMS Admin and click the Advanced tab.

 

2.Click the Install Word Add-Ins link and run or save the executable installation file to your client machine.

 

3.Depending on whether you run the executable file from the server or save it, click Run or double-click the executable file to start the installation wizard. Review the warning message and click Next to continue.

 

4.Select an installation folder in which to install the file. You can accept the default or use Browse to navigate to a folder location on your machine that is different than the one specified by the wizard. Click Next to continue.

 

5.After specifying the folder location, you are asked to provide the address of the SDMS server. Typically, you would use the URL at path Utilities > Settings > Enterprise Setting for SDMS_URL_CLIENT.

 

6.Click Next to continue to install the file. A progress bar indicates the installation is progressing.

 

7.Upon completion of the installation, a confirmation message is displayed. Click Close to exit the wizard.

 

8.Refreshing the page will display an indication that the add-ins were added. The link is disabled (grayed out).
