Unified XML

UXMLUnified XML (UXML) is the preferred method of data extraction from documents. Extracting data from documents through UXML does not require coding knowledge and is a fast, user-friendly method.

SDMS exports data to external applications in UXML structures. Data is extracted based on defined Output XML templates completed with information obtained from a parsed document. The Output XML template consists of the required components the user wants to export (keywords, tables, and graphs) along with the names of the exported components, such as analyte names, as they appear in the external application. Through the use of naming conventions, the UXML structure can be processed to either create new tables or update records into existing tables.

The examples in the following section describe how UXML structures are used in the process of collecting and exporting data from documents and how to configure the Output XML templates.
