SDMS documents can be linked to a workflow. One frequently-used type of workflow consists of two or more steps that must be performed before the data obtained from the processed file can be introduced to another application system, such as a LIMS.
Use the Workflows tab at path Utilities > SDMS Admin to configure workflow steps depending on the document type, industry, and other business requirements. The steps can include different tasks such as reviewing and editing the document, approving or rejecting it, exporting the data obtained from the document, and other steps that can be defined by the user. An export step is included in the workflow when information is used to update another application.
In order to use document release workflows, do the following:
2. | Ensure a document is attached to a workflow in one of the following ways: |
• | Automatic - A file can be automatically attached to a workflow based on advanced parsing method settings configured using Document Template Designer. If there is no advanced parsing, you can use the File Types tab for the File Type. |
• | Manual - A specific file may be manually attached to a workflow using the Attach to Workflow button in the Incoming Queue or Documents applications. |
3. | Execute the workflow tasks. |
This section describes how workflows are built using the Workflow Designer window. This chapter can help you attach documents to workflows and perform workflow tasks.
NOTE Workflow stages are indexed in order to allow fast access to the inbox page for each user. To do this, each workflow and workflow stage carries its own signature internally, and a user/signature translation table is stored on the server.
