A document can be attached to a workflow manually using the Attach To Workflow option (available using the More Actions link in the Documents or Incoming Queues applications), in which case the workflow applies to that particular document only. Alternatively, file types can be attached to workflows and all documents with that file type are then attached to that workflow automatically.
>> To attach a document to a workflow manually
NOTE When a document is attached to a workflow in this manner, other documents with the same file type are not affected.
1. | Log on as a user with access to Life Cycle Options> SDMS> Documents and open that branch in the console. |
2. | If the document is not already attached to a workflow by a file type, the Attach To Workflow link is enabled. Click More Actions to select the Attach To Workflow option from the menu. |
3. | Use the Workflow Template drop-down list to select from workflows configured in the Workflows tab at path Utilities > SDMS Admin. Depending on the workflow selected, entry points are listed in the Entry Point drop-down list. Typically the entry point for a document is labeled the Creator step. This field is required; select an entry point. |
4. | Optionally, you can assign a matching label in the Workflow Label field to identify the workflow and differentiate between concurrently running workflows of the same type. |
5. | Click OK; the document appears in the documents list with the Attached to Workflow check box marked. |
NOTE For more detailed information about workflows, see section Workflows. For information about when you would use the Reprocess link, see section Using Incoming Queue. If you make a change to a document after which you want it to be processed, this feature allows you to introduce or reintroduce it into a workflow without reloading the document and starting over.
