Configuring Grabber Service

Grabber Gears The Grabber Service is configured through the Service Configuration window. This window can be opened by clicking the Settings button in the Permission editor User: <UserName> window. Use this window to configure service behaviors under certain conditions, such as service startup type, troubleshooting intervals, synchronization intervals, and so on.

clip0003NOTE You can also view existing Grabber Service configurations by opening a read-only Service Configuration window. This window can be launched by right-clicking the Grabber icon on the task bar and selecting the Settings option. Then, in the Permission editor User: <UserName> window that appears, click Settings. In the same way, it can be opened from the Grabbers Monitor window. For explanation about the grabbers monitoring feature, see section Grabbers Monitor.

1.Launch the Permissions Editor window by clicking on the Permissions (or SDMS Permissions) link in Main Menu > Utilities > User Management.

 

2.On the toolbar of the Permissions Editor window, open the Grabber tab, and then click Settings. In the Service Configuration dialog box, complete the following fields:

 

From the Service startup type drop-down list, select one of the following options: Automatic, Manual, or Disabled. This defines the service starting mode - Automatic means started, and Disabled is disabled grabbing. If needed, mark the Login automatically option.

 

From the Troubleshoot interval drop-down list, select the rate at which the Grabber will attempt to upload the documents that were not uploaded to the server due to various reasons, such as system failure, network failure, and so on.

 

From the Sync interval (min.) drop-down list, select the rate (in minutes) at which the Grabber will connect to the SDMS server in order to update Grabber configuration settings.

 

Mark the Enable logout option to allow logging out from SDMS Grabber. Mark the Password protect option to require the user password in order to log out of the Grabber.

 

Mark the Pausable option to allow pausing the Grabber. Check the Password protect option to require the user password in order to pause the Grabber.

 

clip0003NOTE The Host and Port fields represent the channel on which the Grabber service is listening for incoming data from SDMS server. If you want to change the Grabber communication port, follow instructions in section Managing Grabber Communication Ports.

 

3.Click Confirm.
