The following section describes the SDMS administrative tool tabs. These include file types, workflows, Unified XML templates, and so on. When integrated into STARLIMS, these tools are presented as 24 tabs available at path Utilities > SDMS Admin. The tabs allow you to initially configure and then later administer the system.
NOTE Workflows, Storage Policies, Extraction Patterns, Unified XML, ActionScripts, Translation Objects, ELN Documents, Office Templates, Dataset Templates and ELN Patterns include version control. This means that to modify the templates, they need to be checked-out, and after proper modification - checked-in and activated. For more information, see the Versioning section.
If you want to use features that enable the system to recognize documents and/or to parse documents for the purpose of exporting information to a LIMS, you must configure the templates for these features, if they are not currently part of your system. Templates for recognizing documents and data extraction according to keywords are typically associated with File Types, listed in the Routing Patterns and Extraction Patterns tabs, and used in an export step in a workflow, all of which are features in the SDMS administration application.
